Regarding proposed gun legislation on a seven-day waiting period: This is a topic on which I have submitted written testimony to the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee recently.
There are three other bills scheduled on similar topics for hearings in February and March. I am not taking the time to refute Christine Millerโs data in this piece (Monitor letters, Feb. 6). I would like, though, to make sure your readers are aware of other terms and conditions of House Bill 514 that would affect N.H. citizens making other non-firearm purchases.
Included in the text of the proposed bill are provisions that include all ammunition to the seven-day waiting period. This undue burden on lawful purchases of ammunition is ridiculous and will unnecessarily cause delays in legally purchasing even minute amounts of plinking ammunition and hunting rounds. It is senseless.
I just ask that people advocating these position provide the whole truth rather than just talking points. The devil, as always, lies in the details.
