Concord police said they were unable to determine the cause of a single-car crash in September that killed a longtime state employee.

The department has closed its investigation into the crash months after Scott Cloutier Sr. was found unresponsive at the scene, not far from the Thirty Pines apartment complex on Borough Road in the village of Penacook, Concord police Lt. Sean Ford said.

โ€œThere is no one glaring cause,โ€ he said. โ€œIt was a tragic accident.โ€

Cloutier, 57, of Concord crashed a 2011 Chevy pickup truck into a stone wall, which was moved approximately a foot off its foundation, police said at the time. The crash was reported shortly after 6 a.m. on Sept. 16.

Cloutier had worked for the New Hampshire Department of Transportation for 38 years and was most recently employed as a survey team technician for the Right-of-Way Bureau.
