As a lifetime resident of Hopkinton, I am writing to support Norm Goupil in his bid for the Hopkinton School Board.

I’ve known Norm for many years in his capacity as a lacrosse coach, and have always been impressed with his enthusiasm and commitment to his teams and sports. In addition to being a coach, Norm has been an active member of the board of the Friends of the Hopkinton Town Library. He has also been attending school board meetings for several months now to become better acquainted with the issues at hand.

As a fellow parent – Norm has three children in the Hopkinton School District, one at each school – he deeply understands the need for top-notch education. He and his wife, Cristina, moved here for the Hopkinton schools, and they believe there is no better preparation for our kids, whether the schools are preparing them for college or a technical education for direct entrance into the skilled workforce.

In addition, as a controller for a Concord business for the last 15 years, Norm understands that budgets must be funded, and that those funds, for Hopkinton, come almost entirely from our residents’ property taxes. I believe he will weigh these budgets carefully and listen to the community’s perspective while also working closely with the school board and administrators to ensure that the school’s expenditures go far and continue to build the best possible education system.

I encourage Hopkinton residents to come out and vote for Norm on March 12.
