POTUS is like a spoiled kid who calls it a national emergency when he doesn’t get a raise in his allowance. He has no grasp of the constitutional separation of powers. The real national emergency we face is an unrestrained president who manufactures crises to satisfy the far right flank of his base.
Conservatives are supposed to be against too much power in the hands of the executive branch. Their deference to this president is a betrayal of what they claim to be their core values. This is political gamesmanship and hypocrisy at its worst.
To Democrats, I say put the Green New Deal on the back burner and fight the war in front of you: the unprecedented abuse of power by an unhinged commander in chief. His constant pulling of false alarms will weaken our response to real emergencies, not to mention be a total waste of time and taxpayer dollars. Where are the fiscal hawks when we really need them?
