I am writing to urge Hopkinton voters to support the facilities improvement bond issue that is on the warrant at the Saturday, March 9, school district meeting.
This $9.7 million bond has the support of the budget committee.
This facilities improvement project has several key components. These include: addressing safety and security needs, which unfortunately have become more critical in this day and age; addressing necessary maintenance issues, including roofs, HVAC, windows, flooring and data lines; updating the science labs at the middle and high schools, to bring them in line with 21st-century standards; and adding three needed classrooms at Harold Martin School.
The district’s facility committee has worked hard over the past three years to bring to voters a well thought out facilities program that addresses our schools’ fundamental needs. They have done an excellent job.
Please attend the district meeting and support this important project. As a bond issue requires a two-thirds vote to pass, a strong showing of support is necessary.
