Hot topic: Voters will consider establishing a TIF district in the southern area of Bow bordering Hooksett. The town is hoping to bolster economic development in this area, and the planning board has a zoning ordinance on the ballot to zone the area for mixed use, including commercial and industrial business.
Article 16 seeks to establish an ordinance defining and regulating conflicts of interest for town officers and employees, both elected and appointed. The town has a current ethics policy but residents will be able to make it an ordinance if it is supported by a majority vote.
Budget: The select board and budget committee agreed to put forward a $11,782,324 budget, an increase of about 1 percent from last year.
If the budget and all articles pass, the tax rate is expected to drop 27 cents from last year (or 3.3 percent) to $7.82. For a $300,000 home, this estimated drop off the tax bill would be about $81 for the town’s portion of the tax rate.
Contested races: Three candidates are vying for two open seats on the select board. Two incumbents, Colleen Hunter and Christopher Nicolopoulos, and Robert Blanchette are on the ballot.
When and where: Ballot voting is Tuesday. The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Bow Memorial School, 20 Bow Center Road. Town Meeting is Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Bow High School, 55 Falcon Way.
