History has funny way of repeating itself:
1) Benito Mussolini, when rising to power in the 1920s as Italy’s fascist dictator, coined the slogan “Make Italy Great Again.”
2) Adolf Hitler and his Reich marshals used politics and policies of racial, ethnic and sexual orientation to divide and conquer, like anti-Semitism, and as a distraction for their masses as they systematically looted Europe of its gold, art works, antiquities and other instruments of value. They enriched themselves while distracting those they ruled.
3) “Walls” have been built in the past at great expense: the Great Wall of China, the Maginot Line, the Atlantic Wall, the Gustav Line, the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain. Today they are stark reminders to doomed empires and failed ideologies despite the fact some are now great tourist attractions.
