Wow! Perhaps Hopkinton Select Board Chairman Jim O’Brien and I were not at the same town meeting. He states that what he heard was to “come back in a year with maybe some more information ” concerning selling the Bates building and moving the clerk’s office permanently to the Hopkinton town hall (Sunday Monitor Local & State, March 17).

There was no “maybe” about it. Citizens specifically asked for cost/benefit data in a number of areas so that we could make an informed decision regarding how to move forward. Perhaps in his mind it was a “maybe.” Rather, it was a mandate.
