The First Congregational Church of Hopkinton is back with its biennial musical variety show to raise money for charity.
This edition of the show is a story called Are We There Yet about a family trip across the country.
“The young son is anxious to get to the Museum of Lollipops, which is all the way across the country,” said director Paula Demers. “Dad’s friends convince him to get out of going on the family vacation and have a guy-cation instead. It’s a loose plot line but a lot of fun and we get to explore different parts of the country.”
Demers said she and a group from the church began writing the show last spring and started rehearsals in January. More than 50 people are involved from actors to backstage crew and musicians.
Tickets are still available but are limited for all three shows this weekend on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Demers said Sunday’s matinee is nearly sold out. Those interested in tickets, which are $10, should call 746-3685.
Demers said proceeds go to local, national and international charity organizations.
“We do it to be able to donate (money) to worthy causes as well as providing a fun way to spend the winter months in New Hampshire,” she said. “The bonds and friendships created are plentiful and so valuable.”
