The town of Salisbury is doing something special to commemorate D-Day this year.

For the 75th anniversary of the allies’ liberation of Western Europe, the Salisbury Historical Society will be hosting a celebratory event with music, food and letters at town hall.

A selection of fine foods will be served throughout the evening and letters from service members will be read aloud and discussed. Well-known vocalist Nancy Tripp will perform a selection of the popular songs of World War II, said organizer Paul LaRaia.

The event will be held April 27 starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25. The money will benefit the Salisbury Historical Society Scholarship Fund. Table seating is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance, LaRaia said.

Those interested can send checks made out to “The Salisbury Historical Society Scholarship Fund” to SHS, P. O. Box 263, Salisbury, N.H., 03268.
