People of all different backgrounds showed up at NHTI’s Wellness Center for the community college’s 19th annual Multicultural Day on Tuesday.
The event also included dances, music from DJ Manolo Unisa Bangura and a fashion show with traditional clothing from around the world. In addition, food from local vendors and students provided a international cuisine.
Like the Capital City’s public schools, NHTI says their students come from dozens of countries.
Sami Patel, president of the NHTI Cultural Exchange Club, participated in the fashion show and said it took work from many people to get it off the ground. “We had to organize the DJ and make posters, never mind getting all the food and letting people know what we were doing,” Patel said.
The event is sponsored by the school’s Cultural Exchange Club, the Cross-Cultural & ESOL office, and the Student Senate. Students from Rundlett Middle School helped as student ambassadors.
