Recently I asked my vet if I could get along with a little cheating. As any wise cat owner knows, with an old cat comes old kidneys, and I wanted to use Pedialyte in between doing IV fluids on my cat.

This is wisdom I wish I could have passed on to Christina Fay regarding her Great Danes. Seventy-five dogs in the home excrete a lot of urine, but restricted consumption of water is our kidneys’ worst enemy, and sadly when kidney damage is done it’s one organ that you can’t backpedal on.

As for our local shelter, Pope Memorial SPCA, sometimes they really do go above and beyond. Back in 2018, their dog inventory consisted of a dog named Elly. She wasn’t meant to be a pet. She was meant to be someone’s dinner in South Korea. Sadly, South Korea and China consume a lot of dog and cat meat.

I praise Pope for having better plans for Elly, and today Elly is a loved pet. Both HSUS and Pope deserve my support, and rest assured they will be getting my check.
