Four people have thrown their hat into the ring for the open Concord City Council Ward 4 position.
Byron Champlin vacated the seat in March after winning a special election for at at-large city council seat. The election to pick his replacement takes place on June 4.
Contenders for the seat include Edith Chiasson, of Essex Street; John Cook, of Union Street; Craig Greenman, of Maple Street; and Meredith Hatfield, of Perkins Street.
The sign-up period ran from April 5 to Monday. Candidates wishing to file by petition may do so through Friday.
The winner of the special election will hold the seat until Dec. 31. A general municipal city election takes place in November.
