■On Wednesday, the Chichester School Board will meet at 6 p.m. There are openings for a kindergarten and sixth-grade teacher. Also, the Student Council is organizing a gift for Mr. Beaverstock, the outgoing CCS principal. The school would like to join forces with the community to purchase a “buddy bench” with his name on it for the playground. If you can donate, send in money to Mrs. Mara by Friday.

■The library is proud to announce it will be receiving the Children’s Literary Foundation Rural Library Grant for $2,000 worth of new children’s books, just in time to go along with the children’s area renovation! It will also receive $250 for kids program to improve literacy. The CCS school will also receive $500 worth of new books for its library. Each child will receive two new books to take home, and in the fall, an author will come to the school to present the books.
■On June 9, the Chichester Youth Association will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station. Come to hear about the new playground, and ask questions about summer sports programs. ■On Monday, work will begin to install the new water line beginning near Goboro Road on Route 4, making its way along Route 4 into the traffic circle and then onto Route 28 North. Most of the work will be completed off the roadway but may cause some delays. Work will be performed during the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

■A Paint Night will be held at the library on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m., headed by local artist Kristy Ellsworth. Kristy offers step-by-step instructions. Light refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring snacks. The cost is $25 per painter, and sign up and payment must be made at the library by Tuesday, as seating is limited.
■Two gardening workshops will be held at the Library on Saturday, facilitated by UNH Coop Extension Master Gardener Nancy Heath and Ruth Axelrod. The children’s workshop will begin at 10 a.m. At the adults’ workshop, which will begin at 1 p.m., we will be planting pots for the Old Library, the Old Town Hall and the trough. Anyone interested in attending either workshop may sign up at the library.
■Elks Lodge 1210 will be in charge of the Flag Day retirement ceremony this year, which has not been scheduled as yet. Post 112 and the Boy Scouts will be participants. People can drop off their nonserviceable flags early so we get them all collected. You can drop off any of them at the following locations: Town Hall, Epsom Library, Post Office. The final collection will be June 10.

■Pittsfield Historical Society is hosting “Tales of New England Life: Four Stories by Alice Brown.” It will be on June 12 at 7 p.m., at the Pittsfield Community Center, 74 Main St. The program is free and open to the public.
■Only $1,500 is needed to complete the final phase of the Floral Park Cemetery Fence . Thanks to your generosity, $14,599 has already been collected out of a total of $16,025. The fence is scheduled to be installed sometime in August. Send in your donations to “Town of Pittsfield,” and note on the check it is for the Floral Park Cemetery Fence Fund. Please send the checks to the Pittsfield Town Hall, Main St. You can also stop by Jitters Cafe to put your donations in the collection box. A special thanks to Paul Rogers for hosting the fence fund benefit at Jitters Cafe last week – 41 people were in attendance, and $917 was raised by the benefit.
■The flower angels have begun their work, and soon you will see these hanging baskets gracing downtown. Each handmade basket – there are 40 of them, costs approximately $25 to make and plant. A very small group of volunteers do all the work, including daily watering. If you have a few dollars to spare, please consider a donation to the Pittsfield Hanging Basket Flower Fund at Citizens Bank, care of Donna Keeley, 256 True Rd.
■The Pittsfield Youth Workshop is accepting registrations for the Craft Fair at this year’s Suncook Valley Rotary Hot Air Balloon Rally on August 3. This annual event draws 8,000 to 10,000 visitors. ■The district-wide Exhibition Night is an opportunity for students to showcase their work and share their learning experiences with others. This year student exhibitions will be on Thursday. ■The Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry will be open Tuesday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church. Young families are given supplemental diapers and wipes. Everyone is welcome.
