The letter in Saturday’s Monitor criticizing Concord’s Memorial Day parade is way off base, in my opinion.
Over the last 50 years, I have missed very few, if any, Concord Memorial Day parades, and it was not because of the length of the parade. This writer seems to have forgotten the reason for honoring our heroes.
It was great to see the large crowd out on such a beautiful day last Monday. The retired Navy commander did an excellent job addressing the assembled group of all ages, reminding us why we are mindful of this day. The school bands were great, as usual.
Thanks to all parade participants, the city of Concord and the large crowd, young and old, for remembering our heroes – the real reason for the parade.
I would have worn my uniform but it doesn’t fit anymore.
