NHWGA golf results

The New Hampshire Women’s Golf Association, featuring golfers from area golf clubs, won the Tri-State Tournament for the second year in a row over Vermont and Maine. The Tournament was held June 17-19 at Brunswick Golf Club in Maine. The tournament included Chapman-style match play and singles match play. Maine had the lead through day one, 1.5 points over New Hampshire and 10.5 points ahead of Vermont. New Hampshire made up some ground in singles match play, eventually winning by topping Maine by 11 points and Vermont by 17. New Hampshire was represented by 30 golfers from 22 different clubs, including Dale Nims and Sherry Osgood (Lochmere Golf and Country Club), Nancy Lamb and Jane Cumming (Canterbury Woods Country Club), and Carmyn Young (Angus Lea Golf Course).

Events

First Annual St. Jude Charity Disc Golf Tournament will be hosted at Top O’ The Hill Disc Golf Course in Canterbury on Saturday. The event is in memory of Alanna Marcotte, who lost her battle with cancer in 2014. Those involved will throw for a cause with St. Jude Walk/Run and PeaceLoveAlanna, the top fundraising team during the 2018 St. Jude Walk/Run Boston. The tournament will begin at 12:30 p.m. and consist of two rounds featuring professional, advanced and intermediate players. Tuckaway Tavern will cater the event and Innova Champion Discs will donate raffle prizes. Sullivan County Humane Society 5K road race through the historic Corbin Covered Bridge on Corbin Road in Newport will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. Race day registration opens at 8:30 a.m. There will be a post-race BBQ, raffle prizes, age-group prizes and overall male and female winner prizes. Annual Franklin Animal Shelter golf tournament is on Monday at Canterbury Woods Country Club. The event will be an 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. Camps/Clinics/Lessons

23rd Annual Hawks Baseball Camp will take place on Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day. The instructional camp in the morning and game camp in the afternoon will have high school coaches and college players working closely with young athletes. University of New Hampshire field hockey team will be holding two summer camps. Session 1 of the summer camp will be June 30-July 3 and Session 2 will be July 25-28. The summer camp sessions are open to junior high and high school students as of fall 2019. Players of all skill levels are welcome. Each session includes four days of field hockey instruction and a full evening program. The overnight option includes three meals daily and housing in a UNH residence hall. Pembroke Recreation Department tennis lessons will be held at Pembroke Academy on Mondays and Wednesdays from July 8-31. Pass Set Crush volleyball camp is available for girls entering grades 7-9 in the fall of 2019. This is an overnight adventure camp with a concentration in volleyball. Plymouth State University women’s volleyball coach Joan Forge directs the camp and the staff features several New Hampshire volleyball coaches and outstanding high school and college players from around the country. Concord Little League summer registrations are now being accepted until Tuesday. Summer baseball is open to kids ages 8-12 from Concord and central New Hampshire towns.
