Recently a news release stated New Hampshire had one of the worst records for transparency in government.
Recently I was reading the verdict from Judicial Watch, which included this quote: “America faces a transparency crisis. The United States government is bigger than ever and also the most secretive in recent memory.”
I have been fighting for more than 40 years against local and state government officials who believe a citizen asking questions of what their government is doing has no right to know anything more than what the officials want to tell them. That’s wrong on so many levels, but especially goes against what our Founders stated in the First Amendment and the Constitution.
So how do we get those we pay and elect to represent our interests to understand that by sharing information some may have solutions that are better than those they have and also less costly?
Check out the roll call for House Bill 729 on the General Court’s website to find out which legislators voted “no.”
