I want to say thanks to the Legislature, particularly our senator, Dan Feltes, for putting together a budget that truly works for everyone, including protecting funding for women’s health centers, creating a first-ever comprehensive children’s system of care, and providing over $200 million in property tax relief and new education funding.
Now, Gov. Chris Sununu is making an outrageous statement that he’ll veto the budget and has drawn his line in the sand over the fact that his additional tax breaks for big, out-of-state corporations didn’t make it into the budget. It is easier to reason with my 3-year-old than it is to reason with the governor.
Negotiating often results in not getting everything you want, not just in politics but in life in general. Hopefully Gov. Sununu will realize this and not put an entire state budget at-risk simply because he didn’t get everything he wanted.
