Well, I’m confident that China’s recent imposition of major new tariffs on U.S. products is just another part of President Trump’s well-thought-out strategy to win his trade war with China. After all, he has said “Tariffs are the greatest” and “Tariffs are working big-time,” and he has repeatedly assured us that trade wars are “good” and “easy to win.” And, of course, he promised: “We’re going to win so much. You’re going to get tired of winning. You’re going to say, ‘Please Mr. President, I have a headache. Please, don’t win so much.’ ”
So how can we possibly doubt that victory is right around the corner? Especially now that Trump has officially identified Fed Chair Jerome Powell as an “enemy” of the United States and now that Trump has “hereby ordered” – ordered! – U.S. companies to find alternatives to China and, basically, to cut their ties with China and bring their operations to the United States. All problems are solved and the war is about to be won. Somehow, though, I’m not quite yet tired of winning. I’m not sure why.
