■The poetry meeting normally scheduled for the first Sunday of the month has been rescheduled to Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. due to the holiday.

■On Monday, the library and town offices are closed for the Labor Day holiday.

■Selectmen will meet Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at town offices. Check the town website for the agenda items.

■The Chichester Historical Society will meet Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Preparations are underway for the program they will host Sept. 9 at the museum at 7 p.m. Save the date for “The Past Lives On.” There will be readings from 19th and 20th century diaries. Programs are free and open to all area residents.

■Knitting Group will meet Wednesday at the library at 3:30 p.m. Open to all – bring your ideas for a fall project!

■Cemetery Trustees will meet twice in September, this Thursday and Sept. 26. There is an opening for a new member.

■Planning board will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the fire station. For a full agenda, check the website for details on site plan review for 374 Dover Road; plan for a new business on 254 Suncook Valley Road; and subdivision plan for property on West Road.

■A library book sale will be Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Specials will include DVDs for 50 cents, CDs for 25 cents, audio books for 50 cents; there will also be a yard sale on the side lawn. A local author, Jodi Scarpa, will be bringing her new book to read as well as cute bunnies to pet – her book will be available for purchase!

■Grateful Sleds, 345 Suncook Valley Highway, will be hosting a Bacon Bash! Mark your calendar for Sept. 10 at the Chichester Safety Center at 6 p.m. An informational meeting will be held for improving safety on Route 4!

■The Pittsfield Historical Society continues to raise funds for the new museum and headquarters. A commemorative garden on the Museum grounds is being worked on.
