Countless people, just like me, are immensely thankful for the fact that Gov. Chris Sununu recently signed the New Hampshire Dairy Premium Bill. This bill will put a special label on locally produced milk that informs the customer that the milk was produced on a local New Hampshire farm, and will make each gallon sell for an extra 50 cents. This bill will help provide for the large number of dairy farmers across our state and help combat decreasing revenues that we have faced over the past few years.
This piece of legislation was desperately needed in order for many to continue operating their farms, and many communities are thankful that Gov. Sununu recently signed it into law. We are also grateful that the community is willing to support local farms. It means the world to us. Thank you to the wider New Hampshire community, state Agriculture Commissioner Shawn Jasper and Gov. Sununu for their support, and to all of our dedicated dairy farmers for their work to get this bill passed.
