British Prime Minister Boris “They call him Britain Trump” Johnson and our Trump prove themselves to be birds of a feather.

Both are possessed of hugely exaggerated self images.

Both have thin skin and retaliate with personal attacks for every perceived slight.

Both promote unapologetic nationalism; that’s nationalism, not patriotism.

Both reject compromise, that messy but necessary piece of democracy.

Speaking of feathers, can we skip the similarly absurd plumage?

Our Trump shows his disdain for democratic processes, ignoring Congress and presiding by executive order. Britain Trump does him one better. He gets the queen to suspend parliament for up to five weeks while he gives birth to his No Deal Brexit. No good reason for him to tolerate any interference from those pesky, democratically elected members of parliament, eh.

Green with envy over that trick, our Trump must be haranguing his cadre of accomplices as he shambles about the Oval Office. Had he a single literate bone in his body, he might riff on King Henry II: “Will nobody rid me of this meddlesome Congress?” Thank goodness they can’t.
