Police have identified a 65-year-old motorcyclist who was killed during a three-vehicle crash on Route 106 in Belmont on Tuesday.
William Ray, 65 of Laconia, died on Route 106, just north of Brown Hill Road when his 2016 BMW bike collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo just after 7 p.m., according to police. Ray’s motorcycle was totaled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said the driver of the Chevrolet drifted southbound into the wrong lane and traveled about 300 feet before colliding with Ray’s motorcycle, which then crashed into an Audi A5. The driver of the Audi A5 was not seriously injured in the accident, police said. The Chevrolet driver suffered serious injuries.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is still underway. Ray is one of at least three other motorists to die on Route 106 this summer.
