Warner native and Concord High graduate Gavin Moody returned a third-quarter kickoff 27 yards, setting up a drive Moody also ended with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Breyy Lavanchy (15-for-21, 124 yards), helping the Plymouth State Panthers win their first game of the season over Castleton University, 23-17, on the road in Vermont.
Moody’s touchdown gave Plymouth a 17-10 lead with 13:29 left in the third quarter.
Castleton tied the game with 58 seconds left in the third, but David Hamilton (career-high 146 yards) scored his second touchdown of the day on a 2-yard run with 6:46 left in the game to give the Panthers the victory.
Moody returned a pair of kickoffs for a combined 55 yards and had another 17-yard catch prior to his touchdown.
John Stark graduate Cooper Gorski had two catches for 6 yards each and Meredith’s Zach Swanson caught five passes for 36 yards to help lead Plymouth.
