I’ve spent much of my life fighting on behalf of those with disabilities, including for my son and mother. Time and time again, this population has been left behind by the government meant to serve them. As the Trump administration abandons essential programs and laws that serve more than 60 million Americans living with disabilities, those with disabilities have consistently been let down by many of their elected leaders.
That will change when Kamala Harris is president.
After listening to people around the country and in New Hampshire impacted by the federal government’s lack of action, Harris became the first presidential candidate this cycle to roll out a specific plan focused on people with disabilities. With her plan, Harris has made it clear that she believes in an America that is fully accessible and inclusive for everyone.
In her plan, Harris detailed how she will fight to create inclusive employment opportunities that ensure people with disabilities are paid what they deserve. She’ll also remove barriers that make it harder for people with disabilities to take advantage of job opportunities.
Harris will also fight to pass the IDEA Full Funding Act, a key issue here in the Granite State, which would provide New Hampshire with $85 million in federal revenue to ensure classrooms have necessary funding to accommodate students with disabilities. This is the leadership we need on such a crucial issue.
