When will the whining, liberal Democrats stop complaining about those immigrants who enter the United States illegally?
A column in the Sept. 8 Sunday Monitor Forum by Jonathan Baird criticized the administration’s effort to further limit the taxpayers’ burden by refusing illegal immigrants green cards if they receive public benefits, including Medicaid, food stamps or subsidized housing. There are millions of individuals not only from South America but China, India, Eastern Europe and other parts of Asia who want to immigrate to the United States to take advantage of all the public assistance they could receive here that is not available in their own country. Just where do we draw the line?
We are already trillions of dollars in debt, working people, for the most part, are not offered pensions, millions more have no health insurance, and our roads and bridges are in terrible shape. I guess that is okay as long as we can let people from other countries enter illegally and become a further burden to us.
You liberals keep thinking the government can pay for it but seem to forget that it is the hard-working taxpayers who pay for it. Legal immigration is fine, just don’t come here to live off us working stiffs. Hey, here is a novel idea you liberals might want to consider: Let’s take care of our own poor, homeless and unemployed.
