The Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team earned its first national ranking in program history on Tuesday, and Boscawen’s Isabel Hoyt has been right in the middle of the Penmen’s historic start. Hoyt, a 2016 Merrimack Valley High graduate and senior midfielder for SNHU, has started all five games for the Penmen, who were ranked No. 9 in the first Division II Coaches Poll of the season. SNHU also improved to 4-1 on Tuesday with a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference win over Saint Michael’s.
The University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team moved up in the D-I rankings released on Tuesday, checking in at No. 18 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll after appearing at No. 21 last week. Concord’s Chris Pinkham has appeared in two games for the Wildcats, including Saturday’s 4-0 win at Fairfield that pushed UNH’s record to 3-0-2. The ’Cats will host Granite State rival Dartmouth on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium in Durham.
