It’s hard to understand how a governor can be proud of vetoing more legislation than any other governor.
Gov. Chris “Sunono” has boasted about the number of bills presented to him. These bills, including the balanced budget, are the result of months of effort by the legislative committees after hundreds of hours of public testimony and negotiations.
We legislators are elected to listen to our constituents about issues that affect them. Over and over we heard about education funding, their property taxes and their families’ struggles.
If you are worried about how your town or city will fund the widening gap between how our local costs are placed back on taxpayers while the big businesses continue to see tax deductions, please contact the governor’s office at 271-2121.
The House and Senate will meet this week to try to override many of these vetoes.
Rep. CHRISTY DOLAT BARTLETT
