Deerfield’s Forest MacKenzie, a freshman on the University of New Hampshire cross country team, was named America East Male Performer of the Week on Wednesday.
MacKenzie, the two-time Division I champion who graduated from Concord High in June, led the Wildcats to a victory in their dual meet with Maine last weekend, finishing first overall in the 8.04K race with a time of 25:45. It was MacKenzie’s second collegiate race, and first collegiate race longer than the 5K, and his performance led the Wildcats to a perfect first-through-fifth finish and a 15-49 win against their rivals from Maine.
The ’Cats swept the conference’s weekly cross country awards as UNH senior Meg Champagne was named the America East Female Performer of the week. Like MacKenzie, Champagne finished first overall as the Wildcats took the top five spots.
