Concord police have released the name of the woman killed Thursday night while attempting to cross Loudon Road.
Paulette Ferland, 63, of Concord suffered fatal injuries when she was struck by a Nissan Versa, Concord police Lt. Sean Ford said by phone Monday. Ford said Ferland was immediately taken to Concord Hospital where she died a few hours later.
The crash, which was one of two involving a pedestrian in recent days, was reported shortly before 7 p.m. in the area of 3 Loudon Road. Police said they have identified the driver who continues to remain cooperative with the ongoing investigation. As of late Monday, police had not filed charges against the driver.
On Saturday afternoon, police responded to a second accident involving a pedestrian on Storrs Street near the entrance to Market Basket. Ford said a woman had attempted to cross Storrs Street shortly before 3:30 p.m. when she was struck by a Nissan driven by Dale King, 57, of Dunbarton.
The woman โ who was alert at the scene โ was transported by ambulance to Concord Hospital where she received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, Ford said.
On Sunday, police cited King for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The motor vehicle violation carries a $62 fine for the first offense.
