A Concord man is accused of assaulting a woman in a parked vehicle and then fleeing on foot before she attempted to drive after him with two toddlers in the backseat.

Officers responded to Rumford Street on Tuesday at about 9:02 a.m. for a report of a woman driving erratically after an argument with an intimate partner, Concord police Lt. Sean Ford said. Upon their arrival, they spoke with Ronald Perron and Ashley Zachary outside a residence.

Through conversations with the couple, police learned that a verbal argument had ensued while Perron and Zachary were in a parked car, Ford said. The fight escalated from there when Perron struck Zachary with a phone and fled, he said.

โ€œThe female then drove after the male through city streets, attempting to run him down,โ€ Ford said. โ€œAll the while there were two very young children in car seats inside the vehicle.โ€

Authorities removed the two children, ages 1 and 3, from the scene. Ford said they were evaluated and are safe.

Both Perron and Zachary were arrested Tuesday.

Perron, 41 of Concord faces misdemeanor charges of domestic violence, simple assault and criminal mischief. He was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear Thursday in Concordโ€™s district court.

Zachary, 28, of Concord faces a felony charge of domestic violence with a deadly weapon. She also is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of reckless operation, all misdemeanors. She was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 10 in Merrimack County Superior Court in Concord.
