To the local bagel shop owner who continues to keep marketing food sold in his shop as kosher: You serve milk and meat from the same kitchen. Not kosher. You serve pork products like bacon, cooked in the bagel oven, which is definitely not kosher.

I know you like to blame the marketing guys. Ask them this: If you put tap water into a bottle, with a label that says “holy water,” is it so? Not only is it not so, but what you are striving for in using the term kosher as a marketing tool for your smoked salmon, implying clean and properly prepared, to high standards, is just a crass form of marketing. Nothing about the shop, or anything in it, should be represented as fulfilling a set of religious dietary laws, based in the Hebrew Bible. Your food is great, but please stop the cultural appropriation.
