I have been honored over the past 15 years to serve on many Franklin boards, as your state representative, and currently on the planning board and city council.
My focus as council finance chair has been to analyze and review budgets of the city and school district in order to get a better understanding of where our taxpayer dollars are spent. Transparency and accountability are my primary goals for the upcoming term.
At recent meetings you may have heard me ask that all school district expenditures be placed on the district website so any of us can readily see how our precious tax dollars are being spent. It has never been done before, and I am optimistic that it will happen soon.
I hope to remain on the city council to continue watching over how our taxpayer money is spent and do all I can to encourage, promote and support the ongoing revitalization of Franklin.
I believe that just as all of us have to live within our means and household budgets, so too should the city and school districts.
I ask for your vote on Oct. 1 for the honor to continue representing you at the council table, to staunchly preserve our taxpayer-mandated tax cap, which allows many elderly residents to remain secure in their homes, and allow me to continue pushing for transparency and accountability at all levels of government.
Thank you, and Iโll see you at Ward 3, Franklin Middle School, 200 Sanborn St., from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
