I came to know Hillsborough County Attorney Michael Conlon during his campaign in 2018. I was impressed by his desire to serve at a higher level where he could impact and improve the condition of the office that was left in less than desirable condition by his predecessor. He had the necessary background and has applied those skills since taking office, successfully implementing changes to improve declining staff morale, establishing previously non-existent policies and procedures, turning around an otherwise ailing office.
He has done that with minimal support and guidance from the AG’s Office. Instead he has experienced criticism and has been handed little to no support by those in position to offer such assistance. So, in my mind, it would seem appropriate to allow Attorney Conlon to continue his work unencumbered by negativity, and encourage him to continue the good work he has instituted in turning around a failing office.
Let’s leave partisan politics at the door and instead offer support and encouragement and the resources to continue to build the success already started. I call on you to take an objective look at what was and at what is now – to move forward in a spirit of support and cooperation for the overall good of the Office of County Attorney.
