Is it still truth that today will be the “history” of tomorrow; that history teaches us what the future will be; that history should not be ignored; that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat its failures? Consequently, does it become an imperative that if a president of the United States commits a crime, treason or is psychologically unfit, that president should be removed or impeached? Is it still important for the current holder of the office to join the esteemed ranks of other presidents who have been impeached so that our children, when they study history, will be able to point to the foibles that existed with certain office holders in hopes that these foibles will never be repeated? Are we complicit if we turn our collective backs on the legal and moral failings of certain office holders and allow a historic whitewash? Would we be failing our children, yet again?
