Weare’s Hannah Marquis, a freshman at Colby-Sawyer College, scored two goals on Wednesday as the Chargers’ women’s soccer team beat Dean College, 5-1, in a non-conference matchup.
Colby-Sawyer (5-8) took a 1-0 lead into halftime, and Marquis made it 2-0 in the 57th minute with her first goal of the game, this one assisted by Sophia Chirigotis. The Chargers scored again less than a minute later, and when Marquis netted an unassisted goal in the 66th minute, it made the score 5-0. Colby-Sawyer had big advantages in total shots (33-6) and corner kicks (6-1). Dean dropped to 2-9 with the loss.
Marquis, a John Stark graduate, is one of only three players to start all 13 games for the Chargers. She is also tied for second on the team in goals with four.
