Shannon Murdock finished first overall, Meg Champagne finished third and Nottingham native and Coe-Brown graduate Elisabeth Danis finished fifth to lead the University of New Hampshire women’s cross country team to first place at the New England Inter-Collegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) cross country championship.
Murdock, a native of Exeter, won the 5K held at Franklin Park in Jamaica Plain, Mass., by posting a time of 17:36.7.
UNH topped a field of 22 teams, with Dartmouth (second) and UMass Amherst (third) rounding out the top three.
The Wildcat women showed their depth in the sub-varsity race, finishing second out of 15 teams, with Dartmouth taking the victory.
Gilmanton Iron Works native and Gilford High grad Lauren Dean finished second and Concord’s Michaella Conery finished 13th to lead UNH.
The UNH men did not have its usual top contingent of runners at the meet, but still placed 12th out of 25 teams behind William Curran (32nd), Joseph McElroy (59th), Dylan McLaughlin (75th) and Concord High graduate Aidan O’Hern (79th).
Providence, Northeastern, UMass Amherst and Dartmouth were the top four teams on the men’s side.
