It is incredibly rich that after months of foot dragging on the state budget, Gov. Chris Sununu is now on a photo op road trip presenting oversized checks to school districts across New Hampshire. His attempt to take credit for the much-needed increase in state support for education is particularly disingenuous, given that this funding is only available because the Democrats fought tooth and nail for it.
With the cameras flashing, the governor hopes the public will forget that his original budget proposal called for slashing funding for public education in order to provide large corporations – most located out of state – with unnecessary and bigger tax breaks.
Sununu boasts that he is a Trump man. With this most recent stunt and his willingness to put perks to business ahead of the needs of New Hampshire communities, there is no doubt that Sununu is marching in lockstep with Trump. You can bet Sununu’s servile loyalty to Trump and his allegiance to corporate donors will be rewarded with out-of-state dollars rolling into his re-election campaign.
Sununu and Trump are both counting on New Hampshire voters not being smart enough to know a con job when they see it. Let’s prove them wrong.
