On Nov. 5, Concord will be holding its municipal elections. With the first-in-the-nation presidential primary rapidly approaching, other elections can get lost but our local elections are often the most important.
City elections can determine the future of our schools, the conditions of our roads and generally the direction that we want to see our city go in the future.
As a former member of the Concord City Council, these elections are especially important to me. Our current city council has done an outstanding job, and I hope all our incumbents are re-elected. There are three races that are particularly important to me.
First, the race for Concord’s mayor. Our incumbent mayor, Jim Bouley, has done an outstanding job and well deserves re-election.
Second, I strongly support Byron Champlin’s re-election as a councilor-at-large. Byron holds the seat I previously held on the council. What he did as the Ward 4 councilor he continues to do as a councilor-at-large – that is, work hard for all our citizens of Concord.
Lastly, and probably the most important to me, is the city council election in Ward 1. I urge my friends and neighbors in Penacook to re-elect Brent Todd to the city council. Many of the wonderful improvements we’ve seen to our village over the past few years have been the result of Brent’s hard work.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 5. Please let your voice be heard on election day.
