I’ve known Byron Champlin in a professional capacity for about two years, and I’ve repeatedly been impressed by his thoughtful approach to complicated and often conflicting political issues, his ability to consider possible unforeseen consequences and his deep commitment to the betterment of the community.
When he was elected as at-large councilor earlier this year, I kiddingly told him, “Now I know who to call if there’s a pothole in front of my house.” Little did I know that, months later, I would find myself calling him in desperation, seeking his advice on what my neighbors and I could do about a dangerous and disruptive situation that had arisen over the past year.
In my conversations with Byron on this issue, I found out first-hand how much he cares about preserving the character, safety and values of our neighborhoods, and how seriously he regards any situation which would threaten the well-being of those of us who live here.
This is not why I’m voting for him; I was doing that anyway – because more than anything else I believe the reason he has served in both public office and his many previous positions is his profound sense of duty and genuine desire to solve problems in his community.
Please join me in casting a vote for Byron Champlin for Concord at-large councilor on Nov. 5.
