Poetry lovers will have a lot to look forward to this fall as four New England writers will release collections of their work. Members of the New Hampshire Writer’s Project have these selections for readers.

Susan Aubin of Littleton plans to release Coffee Thoughts on Sept. 1. The book is planned to be a collection of heartfelt poems depicting growth in oneself and others.

Former New Hampshire poet laureate Marie Harris of Barrington will be releasing Desire Lines on Oct. 1. The new collection will also feature photo illustrations by Charter Weeks.

Former Portsmouth poet laureate Mimi White has a new book, The Arc Remains, appearing in early October.

“The poems chronicle the years my husband, Steve, was ill and, sadly, the year after he died,” White said in an email. “I call them love poems as we were married for almost 50 years and had what many tell me was a rare, loving relationship.  Of course the poems take on their own lives, and though rooted in the illness and loss, they often transform those experiences.  Sometimes I am even surprised by the poems and relieved that they veer away from the ground from which they took root.”

For those looking to go beyond the poem itself, Michael Ferber of Strafford will be releasing Poetry and Language: The Linguistics of Verse through Cambridge University Press in October.

The book tries to show how modern linguistic concepts shed light on how poetry works in its sounds, sense, and syntax. The book is written with the novice in mind. Examples included in the book are mainly from English, but also French, German, Greek, Japanese, and other languages of poetry.
