The most helpful thing the fourth estate could do for our democracy would be to stop reporting on Trump’s every outrageous tweet. Our minority president’s strategy could not be more clear: Keep the electorate distracted with these racist, sexist, outlandish sound bites, while quietly dismantling decades worth of progress on a panoply of issues.
The headline should not be, “Trump calls impeachment inquiry ‘lynching.’ ” The headline should be, “Trump dismantles environmental protections.”
