I write in support of my friend and colleague Nathan Fennessy and ask that you vote to elect him as an at-large city councilor.
I am proud to call Concord my home. We have raised a family here, with the help of a fine public school system. We’ve seen Concord become more welcoming and diverse, and have fully supported the city’s commitment to transforming downtown into a more bustling gathering place.
Nathan and his wife, Caitlin, grew up in New Hampshire, and after beginning their careers in Washington, decided several years ago to return and raise their young family here. Nathan has established himself as a solid litigation and business attorney, has served as a member of the school board and has coached local youth sports.
Nathan understands the revenue challenges we face and the need to grow Concord’s commercial tax base.
Concord’s ongoing revitalization – and its ability to attract employers and young graduates – will turn in part on whether Concord continues to be treated as a drive-thru to Massachusetts or the mountains. That hand will be played over the next couple years, as the state finalizes its redesign of the I-93 corridor. It is imperative that we have a strong city leadership to protect Concord’s future by minimizing the negative impacts of the proposed I-93 expansion and enhancing the city’s vista and connection with the Merrimack River.
