Beautiful holiday poinsettias in both 8- and 10-inch pots can be pre-ordered now in either red, white or pink through any Bow Garden Club member. Prices are $23 and $33, respectively, the same as for the past few years. Customer pick-up will be on Dec. 7 at the Old Town Hall from 9 a.m. to noon, unless you have made other arrangements with your seller. ■It is also the time of year when the Bow Garden Club collects new and warm pajamas and books to give to disadvantaged youth of all ages, who live locally. Collection boxes have been placed at both the Baker Free Library and the Bow Community Center for this purpose. All items collected will be donated to Family Promise of Greater Concord who provides shelter, meals and continuing support to homeless families, many with young children through its network of 16 local congregations and interfaith groups.
■Kevin Bragg will be the garden club’s presenter Monday evening. Bragg’s program will be all about the horticultural history of the “Executive Residence” at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Based on images, accounts, and diaries of our former U.S. Presidents, their families, architects and gardeners Bragg will take us through from the muddy tidal flats and tobacco fields surrounding the White House to the grand alleys, greenhouses and Victory Gardens that eventually emerged. The meeting will be held at Old Town Hall, 91 Bow Center Road. Doors open at 6 p.m. for social time and refreshments and the evening’s program will begin at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome!
