■A new Knitting Circle is beginning at The Andover Community Hub and meets on Thursdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Love to knit? Need some help with a pattern? Just learning? Andover resident Karen Lang will lead the group and is glad to help solve problems and teach new skills. But the group is mainly just for fun – a chance for knitters of all levels to chat, learn from each other and share patterns and ideas.

■“That Thing at The Hub” – an after-school program for Andover fifth- through eighth-graders – meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the Andover Community, 2:45 to 5 p.m. Students can hang out, create, build, chat and snack after school. Registration forms are available at the Andover School office.

BOSCAWENTribute to veterans

■All are invited to attend the Veteran’s Day Ceremony to be held on Nov. 11 at the Veteran’s Cemetery at 110 Daniel Webster Highway. The tribute begins at 11 a.m., however attendees are asked to arrive by 10:30 to avoid traffic back-up and time to park and walk. Seating is limited so you are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for your comfort. The ceremony normally runs for one hour.

■Have you checked out the Exploring Mindfulness classes held at the library? Two more opportunities await, Tuesday of this week and Nov. 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Classes are taught by Judi Abbe. Dress comfortably for a relaxing experience.

■The monthly VNA Senior Health Clinic will be held Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at Boscawen Green. Services include foot care, blood pressure screening, medication and nutritional education. To schedule an appointment, please call 224-4093, ext. 5815. A suggested donation of $10 is requested.

■Holidays are fast approaching and the craft fairs are ready. The Boscawen Congregational Church will hold their Annual Holiday Fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tables include baked goods, jewelry, books, crafts, knit items, toys, holiday decorations and their famous raffle loaded with prizes. A lunchtime meal will be served later in the day.

■Also hosting a holiday fair Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. is the fire department auxiliary, held right across the street from the church. A huge variety of gift items from local craftspeople and vendors, including raffles and Rada knives will be available.

■Fall ushers in the need to fill Thanksgiving baskets. Donations are most appreciated to defray the cost and/or fill a basket for $60. Checks can be made out to Boscawen Congregation Church and either mailed to them at 12 High St., or dropped off at the food pantry on Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesdays 3 to 6 p.m., or Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon.

■The library, town offices and elementary school will be closed Nov. 11 in celebration of Veteran’s Day.

Additionally, please note the 2018 history of Canterbury written by Katherine Grover will be discounted for holiday purchases, selling for $25 in the Country Store and Elkins Library.

■CES Veteran’s Day Program will be held Nov. 9 at 9 a.m. Student Council’s Senior Citizen’s Thanksgiving Luncheon will be held Nov. 21 at noon. Invitations are being sent out but if a local senior wants to attend, they should contact the school at 783-9844.

■Mass Incarceration Presentation will be held Nov. 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Quaker Meeting House, 11 Oxbow Pond Road, led by Richard Van Wickler, Superintendent of the Cheshire County House of Corrections, U.S. Army veteran and Keene State lecturer.

SALISBURYWreaths aplenty

■As of Oct. 1, the selectmen’s office will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The office will be closed from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch daily. The selectmen’s office will no longer be open on Mondays or the fourth Tuesday evening of the month. The selectmen meet the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6 p.m. at Academy Hall. These meetings are an important part of town governing, the public is welcome to attend.

■Selectmen will meet upstairs at Academy Hall at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Everyone is welcome to attend.

■The town clerk will have modified hours on Monday, open 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

■The SES PTG has commenced their annual wreath sale to raise funds for their many great programs for the elementary school kids. There are various size wreaths all very fresh and made to order by the SES PTG volunteers. Wreaths start at 12 inches and go all the way up to 60 inches. They will be taking orders now for delivery before Dec. 1. Order forms are available at the library, town offices, Crossroads Country store, post office and at the Salisbury Elementary School. ■Book Club meets the fourth Monday of the month at Salisbury Free Library at 7 p.m. Book Group will be reading Art Forger by B.A. Shapiro for Nov. 25. Books are now available at the library.

■Every Thursday is Cribbage Night at the Town Hall on Route 4. All are welcome and it is always a good time with neighbors.

■At the Salisbury Safety Building, the Fire/Rescue and  Explorers meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Fire Auxiliary meets the first Tuesday of the month.

■The transfer station is only open on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please remember to recycle all your glass, no matter the color. It saves not only the environment, but it saves us all money. paper and cardboard and metals are also recyclable.

■The select board would like to welcome April Rollins as the town’s new town administrator.
