While viewing the latest candidate forum held by the Concord Monitor, Concord School District and Concord TV on Tuesday, it became apparent to me that many of the candidates were asking residents to determine the future of our city by voting at the upcoming election.

As a resident of Ward 2, my children attend schools in the Merrimack Valley School District, and I am paying a higher school tax rate than residents of Concord who send their children to the Concord School District.

I can help control that spending by voting for city councilors focused on expanding the commercial tax base in Wards 1 and 2 and by monitoring and voting for cost-conscious Merrimack Valley School District board members in March 2020.

This Tuesday, I will be voting for Erle Pierce for Ward 2 city council and Byron Champlin for an at-large council seat. I also urge Ward 1 voters to re-elect Councilor Brent Todd. These gentlemen are focused on lessening the burden on residential taxpayers in the Penacook area of our city.

Regardless of which candidate you support, please vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
