My wife and I recently attended a senior lunch at the Concord Community Center that included a presentation by Cemetery Administrator Jill McDaniel on Concord’s 13 cemeteries.

The history of Concord’s 13 cemeteries is fascinating, however, what impressed us most was the genuine enthusiasm and passion that McDaniel brings to work every day. It’s evident that she approaches her job with a “We have to get this right” mindset.

Repairing damaged headstones in very old cemeteries. Researching very old records to ensure everyone buried in a Concord cemetery is recognized with dignity. Working with the DAR to clean headstones. Coordinating with Wreaths Across America to honor Concord veterans who served. McDaniel and her team of eight do all this “above and beyond” the everyday duties required to manage and maintain 13 cemeteries.

Should you ever have an opportunity to hear McDaniel’s presentation, don’t hesitate to go. In addition to learning something about Concord, you will discover a positive attitude that is truly inspiring.
