The Monitor’s editorial page cartoon of Nov. 4 was far and away the most valuable selection in many months. The federal budget deficit is huge. The spendthrift attitude of both major political parties is or should be scandalous. The nation is on a path to economic ruin.
Disaster will come – as it came in 1929. Matson’s cartoon was excellent.
Perhaps the worst of the situation is the fact that the U.S. government is very deeply in debt to communist China. That vile and powerful government, because we owe it so much, can exert enormous pressure to sway, if not control, U.S. foreign policy.
