Concord is close to halfway through the season for its unique program of vacuuming up leaves that people rake to the curb, with 395 tons of leaves collected through last week. Assuming

an early snow or ice storm doesn’t interfere, as it has done more than once in recent years, the program will run through Dec. 6.

Starting Monday, Nov. 18, residents have the option of bagging their leaves and leaving them out for the next three weeks

The city composts leaves at several locations. Residents can take leaves directly to one of those sites, the Gelinas Earth Recycling Center, 10 Intervale Road, behind the VCA veterinary emergency clinic, when it is open.

For details, check the city website at concordnh.gov/545/Leaf-Collection.

The website links to an updated map showing where Concord’s three leaf-collection crews have already covered. Crews will not return to locations once they have gone through.

The map does not, however, show when crews will arrive at any specific street. City officials have long said that there are too many variables in the program to schedule clean-up sites in advance.

Only leaves are collected. Branches, rocks, brush, and miscellaneous items will not be collected.
