Board by board, Craig Montgomery has been slowly dismantling and rebuilding his 1,100 square foot home.
For months, people driving past on Clinton Street in Concord, have watched as Montgomery took one half of his house down to the sills, and then slowly rebuilt it – both taller and stronger than the original structure, which was originally built in 1955.
On Saturday, Montgomery was busy putting green sheathing panels around the walls of the second story of the home to get it buttoned up before rain and snow hit on Sunday. The roof, however, is still covered by a blue tarp.
With his hands full and weather approaching, Montgomery didn’t have much time to talk.
As anyone driving by can see, the new, taller structure has taken shape on one half of the house, while the other half remains the original one-and-three-quarter story building frame.
Montgomery, who’s lived in the house since 1994, is no stranger to woodworking. By trade, he makes custom cabinets and molding and even does some floors and post and beam work.
